The Man Behind The Lens: Family, Focus and Winning Federal Contracts Part 2 ft. Jason Lapointe
Hey there, Bold Move Besties! I’m back with Part 2 of my conversation with Jason Lapointe from J. August Media, and let me tell you, this one’s packed with gems. We’re talking about his dive into government contracting, the lessons he’s learned along the way, and how family life keeps him grounded.
Jason’s story is the perfect mix of relatable and inspiring. He’s not just building a business—he’s creating something sustainable, and his background in claims management has given him a unique edge. One thing that stood out? His ability to juggle multiple tasks while staying laser-focused on relationships. Jason stresses that success in contracting isn’t just about dropping off a capability statement—it’s about showing up, connecting, and being the person people trust to deliver.
On a more personal note, Jason opened up about fatherhood—sharing how his sons and his own childhood have shaped his approach to parenting. Hearing how he prioritizes being present for his family while still chasing big goals was nothing short of inspiring.
As for the future? Jason sees huge potential in government contracting, not just for his own business but for anyone willing to put in the effort to learn, adapt, and build relationships. He’s all about creating options—not just financial ones, but the kind that give you the freedom to choose the life you want.
So here’s your challenge, Besties: Think about where you want to be in 30 days. What’s one bold move you can make to get closer to your goals? Write it down, set a reminder, and check in with yourself. Progress doesn’t have to be huge—those small steps can add up in big ways.
Catch the full episode for more from Jason—trust me, you won’t want to miss it. Until next time, keep dreaming big, moving boldly, and building your success story!

About The Guest
I grew up in Queens, NY, where I faced significant early life challenges, including the loss of my mother at the age of 9 and the absence of my father (he was basically heading out the door when my mom passed, but was officially gone at the age of 11. These experiences have profoundly shaped my journey.
I found strength and direction through my grandmother and the unwavering support of my girlfriend at the time (now wife), who encouraged me to pursue higher education. I went to college for a semester and left. She encouraged me to go back.
My passion for photography and videography was discovered almost by accident, but over there years it later grew into a successful media company, capturing the love stories of 40 to 50 couples annually. This company was the 3rd started over the years. It then came to a screeching end when my business partner and I parted ways.
After a brief return to the corporate world, my passion for creative work reignited, leading me back into the media industry where I continue to thrive. This was all under the first company I ever started - J. August.
Currently, I’m expanding J.August Media by pursuing government contracts (though I’m still learning the ropes in this area), building clientele in the commercial and small business sectors, and continuing to capture weddings.
My story is one of resilience, creativity, and turning life’s challenges into opportunities, which I hope will resonate with the listeners. You just have to keep going.. no matter how bad it looks or feels.
